He didn’t mention mechanically totaled cars, when there’s a major problem with the engine or it needs to be replaced, it will total itself if the cost exceeds the cars value

Totaled doesn’t necessarily mean it was more than the value of the car. It varies from state to state. In Iowa, total loss is when the estimate has reached 70% of the vehicle’s value. Other states are 50% or 60%. It’s not always exceeding. (Advice from an auto body estimator of two years) ☺️
