@fiftyfitnessjourney: The irony…I chased skinny for three decades of my life And in 2022 and after 2.5 years of weightlifting, I got down to a weight I thought was literally impossible for me to achieve. Plot twist: I hated it Being so lean…you lose fat everywhere… My chest was gone, which wasn’t a huge deal to me but it aged my face. A lot. I didn’t recognize myself. All that plumpness that makes you look more youthful, totally gone. But that was the least of it… My energy took a nosedive. I had little strength to push in the gym. My hormones suffered and I completely lost my cycle. And I didn’t realize this at the time but fat actually helps you to stay warm (it’s your insulation). I was freezing cold…constantly. My sleep was…terrible My body had gone into a state of constant stress. Now, this level of leanness was just a moment in time and for a specific event. But, it taught me a very important lesson. My leanest self wasn’t my happiest self. My happiest place is about 15lbs heavier and that’s where I now maintain my weight. In a world where skinny is making a comeback and ultra lean seems to be in…it’s important we remember what this is all about. Our health Our strength And our futures We all have to find our happy place, my midlife sisters Just don’t be surprised if that smallest version of you isn’t all it’s cracked up to be when you get there ❤️ Looking to become strong in midlife but need guidance?
