@ife_musiq: Jolly Papa – Rex Lawson. I infused a blend of Twi, Kalabari, and Igbo into this beautiful classic. African languages are rich, diverse, and truly beautiful, this is a celebration of their harmony and heritage.💜🦅
Indeed highlife music originated from Ghana 🇬🇭 ❤️❤️❤️

This is Jolly Papa by Cardinal Rex Jim Lawson, a Kalabari man from Rivers State, Nigeria. Although he died in 1971, it is believed that he employed the Yan Ponsan rhythm from Ghana.

Jolly Papa was inspired by the ship SS Apapa, which regularly sailed between Lagos, Accra, and England in the early 20th century. The song is partly rendered in a Ghanaian Akan dialect, and some claim it was a remake of an earlier song by Ghanaian musician K. Gyasi. Btw Rex spoke 6 languages and was heavily influenced by Ghanaian guitar bands hence not surprising
