Experience the cinematic retelling of Judges 9 📖 In this episode, Abimelech, the son of Gideon, makes a ruthless move for power. Instead of being chosen by God, he declares himself king and secures his position through violence, killing seventy of his own brothers to eliminate any threat. Only one brother escapes and delivers a warning through a powerful parable about leadership and corruption. Abimelech’s rule quickly unravels. Conflict rises within the city that supported him, and chaos spreads. Betrayal turns into destruction as those who helped him gain power are caught in the fallout of his leadership. In the end, Abimelech’s life comes to a sudden and humiliating end when a woman drops a millstone from a tower, crushing his skull. His story closes as a reminder that selfish ambition and ungodly leadership lead to ruin. Judges 9 shows us that when power is taken without God, it never lasts. What is built through violence and pride will eventually collapse.
