I think there’s an element of re-orienting towards the analogue/tangible. So much of our lives are digital and unable to be touched, so moving towards the analogue scratches that other itch.

Gen Z influencers buy classic cars cause its just another way of flaunting money - pristine classics are expensive - keeping such a car running is expensive - buying fuel for such a inefficiënt car is expensive - you need to store them in a garage, so you need to own a place with a garage So by showing their fans they daily drive their classic car, they basically are showing they have more than enough money to maintain the car, have a big house or private garage to store it.

The honest truth about this trend is that kids grow up and never stop liking the things they liked as kids so when that generation finally gets the money to afford those things, they see a meaningful uptick in sales

I drove my 1974 mercury cougar xr7 my senior year of highschool and still have it to this today (I’m 24) and the vibes are insane. This car gets so much positive attention. People come up to me and tell me stories, give me compliments, take pictures, etc. When you drive this far you feel like you’re the main character in some sort of edgy film.

I love driving my 80s K5 blazer, but now gas is $4.50 and I get 8mpg. Plus they just green lit E15 gas, and if gas stations switch to E15 for their “regular” it will destroy any classic car engine
