I’m been canvassing for the water not coal petition. Of course, I contact the local organizers holding an event before attending and trying to canvass. I don’t think this is an us vs them issue, and we’re trained not to talk about other issues, because we’re not there to argue other political points. We’re just trying to end coal mining in Alberta

There might be good intentions but, without the work of reconciliation, efforts like this can easily be commandeered as a vehicle of colonialism. Landback is the only way truly forward.

So people that maybe would be directly affected by it, are willing to volunteer to get signatures for that reason, but that doesn't make them good people. Even racists can be motivated to do the work to collect signatures on petitions, especially if they would benefit immensely from it, because they are directly affected. And I'm sorry that you have the unfortunate experience, of dealing with somebody like that, instead of a person that was kind, caring and willing to work with you on the issues, that you were speaking of. There's still a lot of work that needs to be done, on the ignorance of people, with respect to the indigenous people in Alberta. A lot of a-holes out there. I hope you reported this directly to him.😔♥️♥️
