The thing that infuriates me most about capitalism on a daily basis is how inefficient it it. Having students go into debt to study something that they might not be able to find work in wastes everybody's time.

Imagine the US's wealth properly distributed and a centrally planned economy.... just imagine it.

Hii :) I comment this without hate (also English isn't my first lenguage so sorry if I said anything wrong) but I think the entire socio-political context of the country should be part of the video. The opportunities in Cuba are not as simple as you said, people have controlled even what they have to eat in a month, there are continuous power cuts, the gas is absurdly overprice, etc. I mean of course, the educational system sounds great but it's useless if you live in precariousness and ik that u did this video with information purposes but I feel that you are romanticising a reality that does not exist, again I don't say this to offend u or anything 🫶

Communism maximizes employment by this method as they guarantee a job that exists with resources availability to train.

This would be amazing. How many people in the US flounder because they don’t have a specific passion right out of high school and are just guessing at what will be a decent paying available job later?

Unironically in some parts of Europe we have a very similar system. The only difference is you yourself have to decide if you think a field is too saturated or if you wanna try making it against all odds. But everything else was the same for me and my uni. Free education, monthly stipend (under certain conditions), they make you work in your field a bit before graduating.

This is much more reflective of the equal opportunity that America claims to champion. Making college so expensive serves more as a detriment to society since talented people will be overlooked because of money.

Damn that makes too much sense. I’ve been saving up to go to college but I’m stumped on what to study. I’m scared of picking the wrong subject and wasting $$$$. I’m in analysis paralysis.

Genuine question I’m super curious about, how dose Cuba treat learning disabilities such as dyslexia? Are they more efficient in giving us opportunities and providing proper education.

Brazilian public university system works very similarly too! (though we don't have the system of demand by field)

In Spain, degrees have "cutoff grades" wich is the lowest grade that someone who entered that course last year scored and you just take an entrance exam (PAU) to get the grade. The people with the 40, 60, 80 (or however many slots are open for that course) enter and the lowest one becomes the new cutoff. It isnt free but the tuitions are between 600-1300€ (depends on what uni and what major) but theres lots of scholarships. Imo its the perfect middle ground between freedom and assistance

Hasn't there usually been a program where medical students do their residency overseas in areas of greater need as well?
