My literal first call as a medic we got there (mind you my cousin was on of the firefighters and used to be my partner) and he says "oh his sugar is 30" and I went "can you call for a medic" and he legit called my cell phone on scene

The joy you feel when the hospital also cannot get an IV is not talked about enough. Not that you want that for the patient but you feel better about your skills 🤣🤣🤣

I just watched a video of military medic training. Apparently they do conscious demonstration IOs in training on other service members. 😳

I went to the doctor because I wasn't feeling good and was getting dizzy. My bp was 64/52. My gp went "huh, when was the last time you drank... anything?" clocked me so hard.

The moment of realisation that YOU ARE the professional in the room...especially for HEALTH care...is honestly so scary when it is your first time doing any proceedure. 😭 Well done! 😁

Mine was walking into what appeared to be a murder scene, with how much blood was all over the room and on the patient. The patient had spent possibly upwards of an hour slicing himself with a box cutter. Every millimeter from wrist to neck and from ankle to neck was lacerated; there was not an inch of skin that was not. He attempted to slit his own throat and eviscerated himself. When I walked into the room, his internal organs were lying on the floor. I then proceeded to have to scoop up his internal organs, package him, and get him down to the ambulance to intubate him, all while he was having completely coherent conversations with everybody on scene. 😀

My last (fully) conscious IO sat up during the drill and said “you have GOT to be kidding me” (we were already pacing him). I just said “yeah, dude, that’s valid”
