@helipilotleigh: Things to think about while going through helicopter school: You need 200 hours and all your ratings before you’re employable as an instructor. So the goal is to finish all your ratings with 200 or less. You are more likely to finish with less if you do them in this order: Private, Instrument, Commercial, CFI, CFII And when you get pricing from schools, multiply their hourly rate by 200, plus ground school hours. They will usually quote pricing based on the minimum hours for each rating which does not add up to 200.

That’s the right way to do it for sure. Just make sure your instrument instructor knows your going for your cpl so you can complete some requirements towards it.
