I tried for over a year to conceive. Never got pregnant. That was 12+ eggs that could have been babies. I did IVF. What’s the difference if I get 12 eggs all at once. Not all fertilized. Same as trying naturally.

As someone who has done IVF and adopted embryos I agree we are in the Wild West with it. There needs to be more regulation in it. We went through it with no testing and low fertilization. Pretty much agree with everything she said

70-90% of embryos dying from thaw is so far from the truth. Out of three transfers every embryo has survived the thaw for transfer. No one in IVF is doing this to kill babies. We’re doing it to have a baby.

I normally agree with you on your pro life stance, but I disagree with your stance on ivf. I had to go through ivf to have my children. I got 4 viable embryos. We implanted 2 fresh and froze 2. Implanting all 4 would create a very dangerous pregnancy and would be irresponsible. Out of the 2 fresh implantations, I gave birth to 1 healthy boy. Two years later we implanted 1 frozen embryo which resulted in my second healthy son. We are planning on trying again with the 4th. Saying we shouldn’t freeze them bc they might die is insane, frozen transfers statistically are more likely to result in a healthy child. We did not do genetic testing and I agree that we should not be using it to pick and choose our children, but we froze them bc quadruplets would be irresponsible. An embryo not making it through the defrosting process is not the same as an abortion.

People don’t realize that with IVF you still see that all embryos don’t implant. That doesn’t necessarily mean that “more” children die through IVF than natural conception. A chemical pregnancy is the same thing. We don’t know naturally how many “children die” but we can count it through IVF. I had 2 genetically normal embryos that didn’t implant. I just wish people would understand IVF more and the process before they form such strong opinions against it

But what about all of the children who wouldn’t be born if IVF didn’t exist. I would not be able to have children if it wasn’t for IVF. I have 8 embryos. I am not having 8 babies. I plan to donate the ones I don’t use to a couple who cannot create their own embryos. IVF is a miracle of medicine.

IVF is one of those things that I think we need to improve drastically. I am not inherently against it, but the whole industry is sketchy as heck, especially if you are talking about donors or people picking out specific traits for their child. I do think it is a medical marvel and it is a ay for so many people who struggled with infertility to have children, and that is beautiful, but there are a lot of weird things that go on with it, and I think the whole system needs to be drastically improved.

You also can’t expect everything to be so “perfect” when it comes to fertility. Embryos unthawing and do not survive that is no one’s fault. Same with miscarriages or ectopic pregnancy.

I had to heart to heart with my pastors wife about IVF because it will most likely be my only option to have another child. God says that we are knit in the womb and conceived. That embryo cannot grow and become without a woman’s womb. Therefore the implantation process is when the life is created

If I were to do IVF, scoop whatever eggs you can, pick the best one, fertilize it, plant it, and toss the others. I'm not gonna selfishly fertilize all 6 eggs just to MAYBE have one or two "successful" babies just cause I desperately want a biological baby. I understand the desire, the shame, and the despair of infertility. I've lived with it for 13 years. But adoption, foster to adopt are serious options too, for precious babies that are already here.

As someone who suffers from a genetic heart condition that turned my world upside down, if I had an opportunity to choose an embryo that did not carry the gene that caused my heart condition I would do it in an instant. Why would I want my child to suffer they way I did?

I only had two little embryos and guess what, I implanted them both and they are 4 years old now! IVF needs more regulation though.

As someone who is currently pregnant via IVF, not everyone use genetic testing. I retrieved 13, 11 fertilized , 4 made it to blast, and I transferred my first it did not take, I transferred my second and had a chemical. I transferred my third and am currently pregnant. I still grieve every single one of them, and I will still transfer my last embryo in a couple years.

This is wildly inaccurate. The “millions of children” that are “dying in ivf clinics” are also the same children that wouldn’t result in a successful pregnancy. We don’t get hundreds of embryos and discard them like you’re implying. If we are lucky we get an average of 6-8 healthy embryos. And unfortunately not all of them result in a live birth- just like it would be if they conceived naturally.

The thing about IVF is that those embryos were never “alive” they were only alive once put inside of the mother so it’s not really like you’re killing babies because they were never even gonna live in the first place

I went through Ivf and I feel different with it but i respect it, I do wish the babies that family’s can’t for whatever reason that maybe Ivf doctors give our babies too family’s that can’t at all but sadly it doesn’t work like that. Id love it too .

Then I think the government should be taking on the cost of storing those embryos because it’s expensive and patients who go through IVF don’t get to choose how many embryo’s are made. I went through IVF. I got 4 embryos. Only 1 survived and I miscarried. But it would have cost me a few thousand dollars to store the rest had they survived. There needs to be a broader conversation about the realistic situations families go through instead of just saying “it’s my religious belief that you’re killing humans”

or, the body of the egg is dying but since humans are spirit first they just come when the next healthy, body is ready for them. The spirit is the person, the body is the host for the person on earth. I don't think God would make only 1 body/opportunity to for someone to come to earth and have their chance squashed because the body didn't stand a chance of forming and living.
