If you can see open space, stars, and waves exposed directly to space like this, then there’s no substantial atmosphere. And without enough pressure, liquid water doesn’t just sit on the surface. It freezes or boils away. That’s why worlds like Europa and Enceladus don’t have open oceans on the surface. Their water is locked under ice. Real “water worlds” are actually much stranger. Planets like TOI-1452 b may contain a huge fraction of water, not as a thin surface ocean like Earth, but as deep global layers. For reference, all the water on Earth is only about 0.02% of the planet’s total mass. On a true water-rich world, water could be a major part of the planet itself. That means thick atmospheres, deep oceans, and at extreme pressures, exotic forms of ice. So the real version isn’t a planet-wide beach.
