I remember being so scared about having to tell my mom about getting my first period. I was sure she'd want to talk about it and we never had vulnerable conversations. turns out that there was no need to worry, because she didn't tell me anything. I informed her and that was it. she didn't ask if I had questions. nothing.

I'm a GS leader and have been with this troop since kindergarten. As they are starting their journey, I'm ending mine and we have had the giggle session about symptoms even to the point of creating a new badge. Helping your leader thru hot flashes. 🤣😂

Most of them didn’t know what perimenopause was. I just had this conversation with both of my mom and my grandmother….. my grandmother said they just knew about menopause and anything before that didn’t matter… my mom said she never had perimenopause. She just went straight to menopause….. They think it’s crazy that I’m just diagnosed as young as I was. I started having symptoms of 35. I was officially diagnosed therapy replacements for the last three years.

Yup. My mom had a hysterectomy in her early 40’s. She is watching me go through it. I openly talk about it to my teens as they watch me go through it so they know! 🤪

My mother never said a word. She gave me a book to read when I started my period. Never said a word about menopause and the things that happen along with it.

My mom had to have a hysterectomy at 38 so she really didn’t experience what I’m now experiencing. She just went into full blown menopause at 50. She wishes she could help me but can’t relate. Her mother also had a hysterectomy young as well.

My Mom never told me anything about having a period, much less menopause. She handed me super long pads when I was a kid (with basically no explanation), and she had a hysterectomy on my birthday when I was in college. I mentioned having a hormonal migraine last month right before my period, and all she said was that maybe I should go to the doctor.
