the telesitter service at my hospital can only stat alarm ONE CAMERA. I had a poor telesitter call me sounding like she was in tears to explain that. it may not apply to all of course but I thought I'd add that perspective

I hated telesitter last time I was in. as soon as I stepped close to the door because I had to go to the Bathroom, the telesitter was yelling at me "WHERE ARE YOU GOING?" and it hurt my ears badly as im sensitive.

and this is why i wrote a paper saying that we cannot replace in person sitters with telesitters 😭 i’m not going into the healthcare field in my future, im just an in person sitter who hates rvm

Telecaster’s are there as a second set of eyes we cannot do anything through the screen. I’m not sure if this is what happens to you guys or not but telesitters are watching up to 12 screens at a time and it’s really hard to keep up when all 12 pt are awake and trying to move. We’ve also had many times where we’ve called with no answers so we stat alarmed and most of the pt we have to stat alarm to get someone to come in to take care of the pt they get mad at us for it. I also had several people tell me not to call them or get pissy because we call them. Telesitters can only do so much.

Being a tele sitter and a CNA On the floor, Where I am we watch 10 patients at the same time. It’s not like I can reach through and stop them from pulling it out. It is YOUR patient as well. We are baby sitting the patient while the nurses and CNAS don’t come into the room. Which happens way too often. There are mitts for a reason, put them on your patient if they are pulling at lines and tubes. And do hourly rounds like you should. And stating the alarm and texting out isn’t going to get you there any faster l, it takes seconds to pull an IV out.. sooo…

Honestly telesitters shouldn’t be a thing. It’s unsafe, you’re not able to actually meaningfully do anything if a patient rips out their IV or takes off, etc. the only reason so many hospitals allow it is so that they can cheap out on payroll. Not because it’s adequate care.

Okay I used to think this but after working in the room: we have up to 16 patients on the board at one time, the amount of times more than one patient is doing something they shouldn’t be doing is OUTRAGEOUS I only have one mouse

so.so.so here is my problem as a med sitter. WHEN YALL DONT HAVE YOUR PHONES OR RESPOND ON TIME!!!???? In all seriousness Ive set off a alarm on tele and no one showed up for 5 mins while the pt is on the ground

Nah i alarm for everything cause y’all are SO rude when i call for literally anything “call the aid” no i’ve called the aid 7 times in the last hour and they have 2-3 times as many patients as you do. i’m alarming every damn thing idc🤷🏼‍♀️
