A Universal Standard: By using Arabic for Salat (the ritual prayer), a Muslim from Nigeria, Japan, and Brazil can stand side-by-side and pray in perfect unison. It acts as a global "lingua franca" that prevents the religion from fracturing into thousands of localized, incompatible versions. Supplication (Du’a) vs. Ritual: It is a common misconception that one cannot speak their own language. While the formal ritual (Salat) is in Arabic, personal supplication (Du’a)—where you talk to God about your life, needs, and feelings—can be done in any language at any time.
