@historyresolves: The tomb of Tutankhamun, also known as King Tut, is one of the most important archaeological discoveries in history. It was found in 1922 by the British archaeologist Howard Carter in the Valley of the Kings near Luxor, Egypt. The discovery was extraordinary because the tomb was almost completely intact. Many other royal tombs had been robbed long ago, but Tutankhamun’s burial chamber still contained more than 5,000 objects. These included gold jewelry, statues, chariots, furniture, and the famous golden funerary mask that covered the young pharaoh’s mummy. Tutankhamun became pharaoh around 1332 BCE during the Ancient Egyptian New Kingdom and died at about nineteen years old. Although he was not one of Egypt’s most powerful rulers, the discovery of his tomb made him the most famous pharaoh today. The treasures found inside the tomb helped historians learn more about ancient Egyptian burial traditions and beliefs about the afterlife.

I can't get my head around the fact that they still haven't finished catologuising everything from Tots tomb, surely everything was catalogued as they extracted everything from the tomb. so why take 40 years to them go over every single object and not put it on display.

Hard to think of these things sitting un-disturbed for thousands of years. Ive been in the tomb and seen the treasures in the Egyptian Museum, and the Saachi Gallery in London just before Covid. Stunning
