Counter-Terrorism Group (CTG) The Counter-Terrorism Group (CTG) is one of the most elite, specialized, and well-equipped forces in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq. Historically and politically, it maintains a strong and direct connection with the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK). Established in the early 2000s specifically to combat the growing threat of terrorism and extremist groups like "Ansar al-Islam" in the Hawraman region, the CTG has evolved significantly. Since then, and in close coordination with international coalition forces (particularly the United States), it has executed dozens of sensitive and critical operations to dismantle ISIS sleeper cells and maintain regional security.
