day in the life of a marketing manager in los angeles, business trip to nyc edition! 🍎🗽 woke up in new york for a full day of conferences. this specific conference just so happened to fall on my birthday, so i had to spend my birthday working but honestly it’s okay. on the topic of my birthday, now that i’m in my late twenties i wanted to share some things i’ve learned over the past year navigating a new job, relationships, and life in general. 1. sometimes life will give you a lemon and it’s your job to decide what to make of it. i was laid off exactly a year ago from a job i thought was very secure and that i was super comfortable in, and it completely forced me to find something new. looking back, i needed that push. not everything negative in life is actually negative. 2. never ignore your gut, ever. your first instinct is usually right, you just talk yourself out of it. most of the time i knew the answer immediately, i just didn’t trust myself enough to act on it. and if you can’t even trust yourself, how do you expect other people to trust you? 3. friendships get harder to maintain as you get older. keep the ones who stick around during your busiest seasons close, they’re the ones who will be there through everything. but also don’t forget to make an effort on your end too. 4. don’t wait on making decisions for other people. make your own decisions, on your own time, and live life on your own terms. i felt this deeply this past year. if you want to go on a hike, go alone. if you want to try a new restaurant, go dine alone. don’t wait for other people to decide your life for you. just do it, and life will open up in ways you didn’t expect. 5. there are people who will show you exactly the kind of leader, friend, or person you don’t ever want to be. take note of those traits and do your best not to become them. 6. sometimes, it’s okay to lower your bar. if i’m procrastinating, it’s usually because i’m setting my standards too high and trying to be a perfectionist that no one asked me to be. ship it and iterate, otherwise you’re just wasting time. 7. only buy clothes if you can picture at least three different outfits or occasions for it. if it’s just for one night, skip it. older you will like the number in your bank account more. 8. less is more. i used to wear false lashes every day (lash blindness lol), but as i’ve gotten older i’ve been embracing my natural features more. i used to think i didn’t look good without them, but now when i put them on it feels like i don’t recognize myself. for me personally, a good skincare routine and clean base has made me feel way more put together than i ever expected. 9. move out of your parents’ house and experience living alone. the amount of self growth that comes from being financially independent and sitting alone with your own thoughts is something i think everyone should experience at some point. yes, it’s a luxury and yes, it’s a privilege, but it forces you to learn things about yourself that you wouldn’t otherwise. you really figure out who you are when there’s no one else around. 10. if a man makes you feel confused, he’s not the one. don’t spend your time or energy on someone who has you constantly questioning how they feel about you or makes you feel like you need to be a certain version of yourself to be loved. the right person won’t make you doubt anything. they’ll make you feel stable and secure to the point where not hearing from them for hours doesn’t make you anxious. cheers to all the aries out there and happy birthday to me 🥂 here’s to more laughter, more vlogs, and just living a little more this year ✨ #dayinmylife #dayinthelife #asmr #workvlog #Vlog
