@mitspacag: In 2024, I was hospitalized and had my first blood transfusion. After that, I had a hemoglobin electrophoresis to find out why my hemoglobin was low. I was diagnosed with Hemoglobin H disease, a type of alpha thalassemia. Recently, I needed another blood transfusion because my hemoglobin and hematocrit were low, and my platelets were high. Life is different now. I have to monitor my blood regularly, go to follow-up checkups, take supplements, and be more careful with what I do.
