China’s healthcare system is quite different from that of many Western countries. It is designed more to accommodate the majority of the population—especially those with average or lower income levels—so its priorities are efficiency and cost reduction. The advantage is that medical care is more accessible to most people, and health issues can generally be addressed more quickly. However, it also has its drawbacks. First, you cannot expect medical staff to be particularly patient or emotionally attentive—they provide medical services, not emotional support. Second, the income of most healthcare workers is significantly lower than that of their counterparts in Western countries. They often work long hours, including overtime and night shifts, and face extremely heavy workloads. (That said, as professionals, their pay is still relatively decent compared to many non-technical occupations within China.)

I went to ER in Shenzhen two weeks ago for asthma and they put me in a chair and wheeled me straight into a bed, it was incredible - that and the treatment.

In Australia, we walk into emergency and back out without getting charged. Follow up and specialists are different, but emergency is free.

My dad was treated for pneumonia in china and he said it was a wonderful experience- he said the hospital was very clean and the staff was attentive and friendly. ✌

If you have a small cold, you don't need to go to the hospital. It will be cheaper to go to a small clinic. I have lived in Shenzhen for 15 years. There is a restaurant near me. It only costs 7 yuan to eat porridge in the morning. All dishes are free and you can eat freely. There are meat, fish, vegetables and eggs. There are more than a dozen kinds of dishes. It really only costs 7 yuan to eat at will.I can responsibly tell you that the consumption in Shenzhen is very low. If you have lived for a long time and know the local area, you will be more surprised.
