Meat Is Cheaper Than Vegetables in Mongolia 😱 #Mongolia #MongolianLife #WorldFacts In Mongolia, there is a reality that might sound strange to us. Meat can be much cheaper than vegetables. How is that possible? Mongolia is one of the countries with some of the world’s largest grassland areas. It has only around three million people, while the number of livestock exceeds one hundred million. Cows, sheep, goats, horses, and even camels roam across vast grasslands, feeding on natural pasture. For many herding families, owning hundreds of animals is not unusual. Large-scale herders can even manage thousands or tens of thousands of livestock. But Mongolia has one major problem. There is very little land suitable for farming. The winters can be extremely long and harsh, while the growing season is relatively short. The climate and soil conditions make it difficult to grow many types of vegetables on a large scale. On top of that, some Mongolian communities still maintain a nomadic lifestyle. They move from place to place depending on pasture and water, making permanent gardens difficult to maintain. As a result, meat becomes one of the main sources of food. Sheep, cattle, goats, and horses are not just livestock. They are an important part of everyday life. Meanwhile, vegetables that have to be transported from other regions can become much more expensive. Even things that seem ordinary to us, such as bread, coffee, or trendy drinks, may not be easy to find in remote areas. So here, eating meat every day doesn't necessarily mean living in luxury. It is simply a way of surviving in a harsh environment. This environment also shapes the way people live: active, resilient, and accustomed to extreme weather. Imagine living with endless grasslands stretching as far as the eye can see, with no supermarket nearby, and depending on livestock to meet your daily needs. Could you live like this every single day?
