Sometimes acting clueless and calm is even more effective. My favorite question is “what do you mean by that?” but in a very calm and even slightly warm tone. I find that making people repeat and explain the shade they try to throw typically makes them uncomfortable and they start back pedaling. I’m all for ignoring too! Depends on what I have the energy for that day and how shady the comment is lol
