People who make it a girl vs boy issue are so weird. Yes it can be more common for girls but that doesn’t negate the fact that ALL children should be protected, irregardless of gender!! Thank you for speaking up about this!

If an adult is engaging sexually with a minor it needs to be talked about and called abuse. Gender does not matter outside of discussions like this where we have to discuss that boys are still children

We have to ask, is it an uptic or do we finally start treating male victims seriously? Due to the patriarchal system men are typically the attacker, but due to that percieved dominance their victimhood in cases of SA is questioned because men are painted as hypersexual, violent beings. SA isn't about gender, it's about power and violence and if a teacher or older person uses their advantage over an underage boy, that's statuatory rape even if the boy may not see himself as a victim because he was taught that sexual contact is something he should seek out the most of.

Undoing the normalization of male CSA/SA and the predatory behaviors of female groomers as well as the women who have enabled abuse towards boys is also more difficult because of the internalized misandristic & misogynistic ideas that many women carry when faced with it. Some of women HAVE in fact abused boys and men of all ages, yes men abuse women at a higher REPORTED(!!!!!!) rate however that will never disqualify or disregard the fact women have and are capable of abusing boys/men in that manner as well. The reason it seems to be “a rise/uptick in” is because it’s reportedly more than ever before. Women were never taken seriously about CSA/SA up until a very recent time, men were allowed to SA their wives up to about 50yrs ago in the us when they passed a law that husbands could be reported for r*ping their wives and it’d be treated as that crime. Now that we’ve advocated so much for SA survivors, we’ve gotten to the part of it where we have to face the reality that boys DO get abused at a high rate and they are not being adequately advocated for with the same compassion that girls do. It’s not about who gets hurt more, who “actually gets hurt more often” or anything else they continue to argue. Boys are being abused. Boys deserve more compassion if we want to help them get through it. Boys deserve to be able to see they have support from their peers. Boys deserve to have the knowledge they’ll be taken just as seriously and urgently as girls do in these matters.
