@macrasmus: The Southwest Light Rail Extension could change commuting in the Twin Cities in a big way. This video breaks down what is happening with the project, why the budget climbed so much, where construction stands now, and what early 2027 service could mean for people commuting between the western suburbs and downtown Minneapolis. If you are thinking about moving to Minneapolis, comparing suburbs, or just want a clearer picture of how transit shapes daily life, this is a helpful breakdown. 📲 (612) 801-4565 📧 [email protected] Book a call: https://calendly.com/mackenzierasmus/client-consults?month=2026-03 Stan Store: https://stan.store/mackenzierasmus #SouthwestLRT #MinnesotaTransit #MovingToMinneapolis #TwinCitiesLiving #MinneapolisRealEstate
Still worth it. For decades of car free living for those who can benefit from it. Think of it as less than 2% of the F-35 program.

Excited for this to open but still annoyed they didn’t have it go through Uptown MPLS, which would’ve made it more useful and also possibly avoided the issues they ran into with Kenilworth

The kennel worth tunnel was never supposed to be a tunnel until resistance complained about noise. They decided to make it a tunnel increasing the cost. Funny thing is there is a freighter rail near but the light rail was going to be too noisy?

Completed just in time for the collapse of commuting to the central business district. Not worth it. I’d rather have my tax dollars back.

It takes me 40-50 mins during rush hour to drive from ~EP to ~Target Center every day. I would definitely use this when it’s done. Just because you wouldn’t use it doesn’t mean it’s dumb.

Seattle actually spent real money and connected their city. It makes a difference. Yes it costs money to get folks out of cars. It’s important for long term sustainability.

I love more rail but I don’t understand why the most wealthy communities are the ones who are first getting access to this infrastructure

There are so many people that work downtown and on the UMN campus that spend hours everyday on the freeway. This could really clean up that 35w highway congestion every day. Especially with gas prices only rising. Accessible access to transportation across this metro will never be a waste of money!

These should be branching out everywhere. The vast majority of millennial and younger gens that I know would much prefer mass transit options like this.

The funny/sad part is that being close to the light rail likely will kill your property values. 😅
