Before we sit down for Passover tonight, a holiday rooted in the fight for freedom from oppression, I want to implore you to watch this Oscar-nominated HBO documentary. It is hands down one of the most important documentaries I have ever seen. Inmates - many of whom are activists trained by some of the most prominent civil rights prisoners in Alabama history - used contraband cell phones to expose what is happening inside Alabama’s prisons - and what is happening all over this country with a broken prison system. This film is an urgent reminder that the struggle for liberation is far from over and prison reform is a critically urgent issue to learn about and mobilize around. Please.
