@adivunsolicited: Hygiene is cultural and I often ask myself why, but it goes back to European and African concepts of hygiene and how that’s been passed down to us over the centuries. While the royal court was peeing on walls and staircases in the palace of Versailles , and while the British were throwing their feces and waste out their windows and into the Thames river, West Africans had public bathrooms, indoor plumbing, hot water , and cared about hygiene and sanitation.
