this movie was a great lesson on how one lie can ruin the lives of many

The book angered me so much because there was no actual atonement! She was going to wait until she, the cousin and the husband were dead to tell the truth. When it didn’t matter anymore! That’s not atonement, that’s a cop out

This is one of those movies that you can only ever watch once. It's just too painful to watch again.

Robbie probably died thinking of her and she probably did the same. Cecelia never found out he had already died months prior. 💔

Idk if I’d consider what Briony did as a lie. More like she was nïeve, and the library scene scared her. I believe when she implicates Robby she 100% believes it was him. Realizing only later that she was wrong. I’m not sure when she planned to make things right but she did have the intention. Unfortunately, she ran out of time. The only wrong I see is the character waiting so long to tell the truth after everyone involved was long gone.
