Walk, don’t walk, run don’t run, stair master, no never mind don’t do that. Lift to failure, no actually focus on lower weight with 12-15 reps, WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO EVEN DO ANYMORE? LOL Gym Tok is all over the place tbh

Personal fitness trainer here of many many years!! I’ve trained many body builders and also people who simply want a healthier lifestyle and longevity. the stair master is an excellent workout to maintain muscle while burning fat if done at a VO2 rate! In fact any form of cardio, cycling, treadmill, rowing, swimming, etc. are all great for fat loss and maintaining muscle if done at VO2 while also ofcourse weightlifting. Resistance maintains muscle, if not builds it. Do what works for YOU. Everyone’s bodies are different. also guys just some advice… swimming is the best form of cardio to help shred fat, regulate your lymphatic system and also gain muscle. It has a ton of resistance , thank me later;)

Tanya Juneja, MD :
The elliptical is a valid choice for pure low-impact cardio, but suggesting it is superior for muscle growth or "inflammation" misses the clinical point. As a physician, I view the Stair Master as a functional tool for knee protection because it forces the quadriceps and glutes to stabilize the joint through a controlled, vertical load. This type of weight-bearing movement is exactly what builds the structural integrity and bone density that the elliptical cannot replicate.
Choosing the elliptical is a fine preference for joint comfort, but it shouldn't be framed as a requirement for muscle gain. Inflammation from exercise is a necessary signal for repair and strengthening, and avoiding it altogether through lower-resistance movements can actually lead to weaker connective tissue over time. For anyone prioritizing longevity and joint resilience, the controlled resistance of the stairs is one of the best ways to keep the knees stable and protected.

I’ve never felt like the stairmaster puts a lot of stress on me. Especially if you’re staying in zone two, which is optimal for fat loss.

acute inflammation is not a problem, unless you're overdoing it, you should be fine
