We’ve only discovered around 1500 dinosaur species, it’s approximated that there was over 250,000 different species during the 160 million years. The ocean is hiding them.

Omg this is so insightful. I could never understand why they would do this. But as someone who has adrenal burnout and deal with chronic fatigue, I take measures to get to safety. I also have hypoglycemia, you literally need things to take off the body regulation mode until you recover. Fish need to breathe in water while whales and mammals need to breath in air. It makes sense to beach. Well done on the explanation

As someone who works in marine mammal rescue, I really appreciate you shedding light on the reality of large whale strandings—there’s so much the public doesn’t always see or understand. Every stranding is different, and the priority is always the animal’s welfare. We do everything we can to help when a rescue is possible without causing further harm, but while people naturally hope for a happy ending, that isn’t always possible. Sometimes the most compassionate choice is to allow the animal to pass as peacefully and stress-free as possible when intervention would only prolong suffering.

The Baltic Sea is less salty than the Atlantic. I think that might affect the buoyancy. using much more energy than usual?
