It irritates me to see parents be so dependent on their kids learning things from school only. (Ex: counting, ABCs, spelling their name, tying their shoes, etc)

We started playing this game with my 4 year old by asking him to go find X amount of toys. “Bring me 6 toy cars!” He gets so excited looking for the toys & counting them to bring to us.

So I’ve been working on this with my 2 year old because I’ve noticed she can count to 20 but can’t count things. Exactly like you said, she skips numbers or touches an object twice 😂 we are working on it

It’s EXTREMELY hard to build the confidence of 25 5-7 year olds at one time. So even if 10/25 know how to do this it helps all of the class grow exponentially.

Counting via 1:1 correspondence is one of my student’s biggest weaknesses. He just yells while looking at me and not the items to count “Count! 1, 2, 3!”

I wish child development classes were accessible to new parents. As a sped major, I have been learning a ton about how much parents and our environment shape our biological dispositions to learn. There are so many things that would be useful to new parents, even in a basic child development course

My 4 year old has one more year of prek & he can do so much that yall do in kindergarten at the beginning of the year. I’m worried he’ll be bored in some subjects and be considered a kid who causes disruptions because he’s bored 😭
