In my opinion it’s better to be looking for a car when you can take your time as opposed to looking because you HAVE to get a new car. Also, if this is a vehicle you plan to drive until it absolutely needs to be replaced (like you’ve had your current one a long time) then buying a new one isn’t a bad idea if it’s within your budget. Brand new means you have a warranty, know it’s been well maintained and depreciation really isn’t a factor.

I think I remember Dave Ramsey saying the cost of your car shouldn’t be more than 50% of your yearly salary. Probably doesn’t help lol but interest rates are so high right now and cars lose value. I’d save up as much as you can for as long as you can. But who am I to say, I have a Range Rover 😏😂

Lots of dealerships offer 0-2% APR in the new year to get rid of “older” inventory. I’d save as much as you can to get what you want and you may have a smaller monthly payment at the start which you can hopefully pay down quick.
