After working for a company for 15 years gave my all missed vacations holidays family events to get laid off when I was diagnosed with cancer the ceo said they cannot accommodate for my upcoming appointments and treatments , life is to short although now at my current job I will do my job as best as I can now but I won’t give my life to it and now take my vacations and will not miss life again and hope to be my own boss soon 🙏

I agree with this wholeheartedly, but as a manager, I want my direct reports to know that I care about them SO MUCH as people. I’m too far from the top to have insight or say into decisions like the one that Oracle made, but I would hope that if a lay off like this would happen that at the end of the day I’d still know my team was my team.
