That happens all the time, technically it a river but its tide water, it’s common to see small whales, sharks, sea lions, crabs , salmon and other salt water critters in the high tide saltwater rivers

Actual marine scientist here, whales breathe oxygen, they can swim in fresh and salt. Guess people seem to forget they’re mammals lol.
