Most traders are thinking too small with prop firms. If you have 10 x $50K funded accounts, that’s $500K in funded account allocation. Now look at the business model: 10 challenges at roughly $70 each = $700 in fees. Let’s say you fail 5 and pass 5. That leaves you with: 5 x $50K = $250K in funded accounts. Now, hypothetically, if you eventually pull a $1,000 payout from each of those 5 accounts, that’s: $5,000 in payouts. Subtract the original $700 in challenge fees and you’re at $4,300 before any other costs, resets, taxes, or fees. That’s why I tell traders: stop treating prop firms like gambling. Treat them like a business. Not every account will survive. Not every challenge will pass. Not every month will produce a payout. The goal is proper risk management, diversification across accounts, protecting funded accounts, and building a repeatable process. My personal goal is to work toward roughly $2 MILLION in funded account allocation over the next few months. I use funded accounts primarily for day trading, while I use Hyperliquid more for my swing trading. Prop firms are not free money.
