stainless steel cutting boards are bad for knives because they are harder than the steel in most blades. Cutting on a hard metal surface causes the blade edge to roll, blunt, or create burrs, forcing frequent sharpening. While hygienic and durable, they also cause slipping.

very, very nice. I have a cutting board made out of Corian. its very strong easy to clean and when it gets scuffed up I sand it down and disinfectant it.
