Last year I was staying at the Ibis Manchester Airport alone and someone opened the interconnecting door from another room and walked in! I was in bed trying to sleep!!! I shouted and they left and locked the door. Went straight to reception to be moved and the staff could not have given less of a $hit! I was so scared all night.

Even from the hotel’s self-interested perspective, why would you give a room key to someone not registered as a guest for that room? Surely their insurance doesn’t cover theft or damage caused by negligently giving unfettered access to a random person.

Was staying in a premier inn recently and the guy on reception announced my room number loudly to everyone waiting. As I was checking out I advised this wasn’t a great idea and he said yeh, I do usually try and remember 🙄.

I’ve always had hotel staff show me the number of my room rather than say it out loud.. I thought that was standard practice. That’s not good. I’ve also heard that hidden cameras in hotel rooms seems to be a thing and that terrifies me

The way that you have to ask them to not tell people you’re there and give up your room number and key. They should not be e giving out names, locations, and keys to any unauthorized person.

ALWAYS CALL THE POLICE! DONT delay to think about it. Use your gut feeling. If you are scared, it’s happened before to someone else… and it’ll happen again to someone else. Get it logged with the police.
