Not all children play in the same way. And noticing certain play patterns can sometimes help parents recognize early warning signs and decide when it might be worth speaking with a specialist. Here I show three different behavior patterns during drawing: Typical child: Focused on drawing and using pencils in a typical way. Child with autism: Focused on the activity, but interacting with the pencils differently — often sorting, lining them up, or organizing them. Child with ADHD: Less focused on one activity, quickly switching between toys, but generally using them in a typical way. If you notice play patterns similar to the second or third example, it may be worth discussing your concerns with a specialist for a professional evaluation.
