As a CIS woman there are a lot of things I can’t share experiences on, that said, even at 43 I still question who I am, how I want to present, what looks or styles I am comfortable with. I think that’s an issue for women in general. We spend the majority of our lives being told we have to look or act a certain way. Your feelings are completely valid. When we finally get to the point where we focus on what WE want or like, it’s a journey. And having each other can make all the difference, for ALL of us. Everyone is going to have their own version of “feminine” so when asking for help you will get a wide range or replies. I think the general version would be something along the lines of “soft colors and fabrics, whimsical, florals, flowy, silhouettes that accentuate the curve of your chest and hips” . Personally I’ve found my style by trial and error. Go to a store that specializes in your sizes. I am plus size so I went to stores that specialize in that. Locally that was just Torrid and Lane Bryant. I tried on so many clothes in so many combinations until I found something that evoked a real feeling in me. Rinse and repeat a million times. Wishing you the best of luck and an uplifting journey!

✋ After my conversation last night on your skirt post with that beautiful human who’s name escapes me, I feel like I have gained one ounce of better understanding. I won’t ever know what it’s like in your shoes, but I do feel like I gained a lesson in not pressuring you to see yourself through our eyes; what’s important is that we take a minute to see you through YOUR eyes. That’s the only way we as women can maybe help you continue your journey of finding yourself. ILY 🫶 ps; I love your hair today!!! Your curtain bangs are doing that perfect swoop that I always have trouble achieving!!!

Thank you for explaining! I know we are trying to support when we say, give yourself grace, and when we tell you how Fabulously femme you look! You’ve shown us so many vulnerable parts of your journey and we just want to hug you and make it all better. In my rose colored glasses world, it would work, but I realize now it doesn’t. Because you’re right- many of us as allies were fortunate to learn who we are over many years and so you can be happier, you are trying to condense that into a much shorter time frame. If it helps at all, and I realize it’s is Not the same thing, I’m 62, and still learning to be comfortable in my body. After years of worrying what others think about how I look or dress, I’m finally getting to the age that I’m learning not to care. How they see me is their issue and not mine. As trans, I realize there are many more layers for you to work through while trying to stay safe on top of it. Just know we are here to support you every step of the way- and sweetie- I would take a bullet for you every day if it would save you one ounce of pain. Love you ♥️

I feel this in my bones. It didn’t really hit for more than a year after I started my transition, but I had this deep free fall of “oh shit, I really don’t know who I am or what I want. I’m working off of momentum and now I’m stalling out….”

my daughter is trans and I had to sit down with her to show her how take care of her hair now that it's long and what kind of products to use since we have curly hair. I showed her your video with the skirt, so she can see add to continued use of her tshirts. my daughter came out after college so it's been a process, we also went to therapy together ❤️

I've been in transition since 2019 and I've settled into my femininity a lot, I still have the "who am I?" days. Getting to explore is beautiful but can be so hard when we've been punished for wanting to embody our internal femininity. 🫂

As mom of a transgender, I wish I could go back in time and understand this more. I saw signs at 2 years old. I didn't understand what was going on with my kid. now I understand. I had to apologize to my adult kid for not understanding earlier.

I feel everything you just said. When I came out at 48 I had no one to help guide me to show me what makeup to use how to dress, how to socialize. I figured it out on my own. So I tried to help as much as I can now.

oh hun, this is a great explanation of how deep your journey is. I am a parent to a gender fluid teenager and a 10 yo that is seeing different ways to express themselves. my parenting has changed from the way I raised my 27yo son that is and has always been very masculine. thank you for opening my eyes. I do not want to give either of my kids trauma. BTW, I think a lot of girls (young women) try on different looks to find their way to express their femininity. sending you love and hugs on your journey.

I came out as a lesbian at age 58. Every day I continue to learn about who I actually am while also letting go of who I thought I had to be. Identity reorganization is a big deal. There is no map but please know that you are not alone. 💛
