@jamageddon: TDP is on every CPU box and it sounds like it should mean something. Turns out it's not a temperature limit, not a power cap, and the number you actually need - PPT - isn't even listed on the spec page. Part 2 of my CPU thermals bootcamp. This one annoyed me *a little* #CPUThermals #PCBuildingTips #techtok #RyzenCPU #PCBuild

I think there's some confusion here. TDP watts isn't how much wattage your CPU uses, it's how much energy in heat it puts out. So in theory you could have a 500 watt CPU with a 90w tdp. It's all dependent on how efficient it is. But also, like you said, there isn't an industry standard, both AMD and Intel calculates them differently.

The Intel KS versions are even higher rated for a max of 320W. i capped mine at 305W at a cinebench r23 score of 42K😁👍

.... so just get a 1000w power supply and not think about it or is higher voltage bad for your pc? because you need to add all the voltage in your pc. like cpu+gpu+fans+cooler +rgb+power pulling<---(what she talking in the video)

yeah power draw isn't equal to heat output. Even with the same manufacturer everything varies due to where the chiplets are on the IHS and how closely packed they are. On X3D chips its also worse as cache is on top of processor and heat has to go through the cache

Thanks to Steam Deck I realize that “TDP limit” option shouldn’t be there in the first place, anything over 15W and it chug battery while don’t give that much performance gain.

I also have a 7700x. it's an awesome CPU. I use a bulky tower cooler. I do want an AIO eventually, but mostly for aesthetics.
