I'm sorry but if anyone used the words "big feelings" when talking about me expressing emotions, I would be enraged. That is what people say to children.

This person on the call should be promoted to the managers position. They already have the trust of the other employees and all of the knowledge.

I really like the idea of HR being outsourced and not in-house. I have no evidence aside from watching you on TikTok, but by comparison in my experience, when HR is in-house, it’s harder for folks to be completely objective. There are friendships and most people don’t seem to be good at separating business from personal.

I think people are missing the fact that the formulas being discussed seem to be entry level for the positions in question. It may not be entry level excel but for the JOB position it's entry level. I can write a v and x lookup but can't write a pivot table. Never tried but may go learn after this even though I have zero need in my job functions right now.

my manager can’t write code like i can. i’m a senior software engineer. his job is to manage me and other engineers to make sure we hit our deadlines, run interference for us, and removing obstacles blocking our progress. i think a manager should have an UNDERSTANDING of the work their subordinates perform, but not need to be an expert or even a novice with those same skills. their job is to manage

The reason they all got together as a team is that they were afraid of retaliation which is scary on its own. But they very clearly all see employee 1 as a leader whom they know has their best interests at heart. Can’t wait to see where this goes.

Why can’t all HR people be this way! I left my last job bc of a toxic boss and HR was zero help even with evidence. So thank you for being so kind and helpful

ppl forget that management is actually not about doing or knowing the job. it's about leadership and motivation. It doesn't make this right but too many ppl think it's about doing the job better. It's not! it's about getting the best out of the team x

I said it on part one and I’ll say it again, employee 1 is clearly more management material! Even how she handles being told that it’s gonna be facts and not emotions that matter, she clearly gets it and prioritizes getting the job (of getting this existing manager out) done. Impressive!

This is so many people's experience. A supervisor that can't do the job of the people that they manage.

Your approach is textbook smooth, ma'am. You redirected the employee back to the evidence while validating her feelings. Well done! 👍

My boss doesn't know how to do what I do. Maybe it's different in IT. My main problem with this is the manager taking credit for their work. That ticks me off!

I understand all of the other frustrations, but as a payroll person, why is the employee not taking responsibility for missing punches and sick time? Those are literally within the employee’s control.

Here’s the thing that I reckon Bri will be trying to establish. Does this manager have a job description that says being able to perform these tasks is an essential skill? If not, it’s kind of irrelevant. The pay stuff will be the thing that ultimately brings this manager down, not the fact they aren’t doing the same tasks as the team being led.

I’m not saying the employees aren’t correct, but what this feels like to me is a general feeling of employee number one was passed over for a promotion and started creating a list of why manager wasn’t right for the job and became the ring leader for the whole workspace. And don’t get me wrong: manager might not be right for the job, but something feels fishy here like there’s more to the story.
