I have a long story, that I promise is relevant. I used to assess people for the disability pension in Australia whilst doing my masters. I contracted for a private company and was pretty qualified (Occupational Therapist)… but I was paid by the assessment. I (more than others I found) stacked as many assessments as I could in a day and made all of my efforts to be as fast as possible. I followed the rules, but did just enough. My point here is that in your story you both say that your wife spent hours on the phone that is more cost to the corporate middleman, and then more complex processes = more business to the corporate middle man. I want to know what the incentive structure is for the corporations, because more hours = more cost… but how does it it equal more money? Are they paid by the hour?

Just like private health insurance… you don’t really get a choice (you get what your work gives you)

They have no incentive to do things faster. They don’t care if you get approved or not or how many cases there are. They get paid for the overall contract regardless.

Totally oblivious :
Few corporations deviate from their primary obligation…a fiduciary duty to their shareholders to maximize profit. That obligation undermines their accountability to the consumer or end user. And it is protected by the law, which backs them up.

@NunYaDamnBus✌🏻: Profit and private entities have absolutely no business in an arena that services the public through/for the government. Profit will always be chosen above nonprofit (people). It is so damn simple 😭 I don’t understand how or why anyone could possibly ever think that involving a for profit entity in the public sector will end well. I’m being dead ssa serious when I say that the handling of this country and her people makes ME feel like a crazy person
