I am so fair naturally that I glow in the sun. I use self tanner because I don’t want the damage from tanning in a bed or the sun. I prefer to have a tan because my legs don’t glow, the redness to my skin is less noticeable, and I honestly feel more put together. I don’t mind it in the winter, but in the summer I feel so frumpy.

I can’t speak for others, but I tan because I have psoriasis, and the radiation breaks down my plaques and makes it so much easier to do daily tasks. 😅

I personally like looking tan because I think it suits my features better, but when I go out in the summer sun, I burn no matter how much sunscreen I put on. Then that burn turns into a tan so now I really can't stop it unless I don't go outside. But I like being outside so

I used to like tanning in the winter because I like the heat on my skin. I stopped tanning. I never really tanned for the color. Then I found a king sized heated blanket and I’m in love :)

I don’t purposely get tan, but I tan through sunscreen. I like myself both ways! In my youth, I did tanning beds because it was what everyone did. I’ve spent my whole life being asked if I’m sick or tired, and I got that less when I was tan.

I like to be a shade or two darker than marshmallow. It makes my soul happy, but I never get that color. I just go from marshmallow to lobster every time I am in the sun for more than a half hour.

When I did tan it was partly for psoriasis and partly so when I was outside I didn’t burn quite as quickly. I’m a ginger so it was the base “tan” wasn’t really that effective and I only was in the booth like 30 seconds.

I don't now, but I did when I was younger. I felt much better in the winter months after tanning. It helped my mood drastically in the winter and working nightshift.

I live by Lake Michigan so I spend as much time there as possible when it's nice, I just like to listen to music and read books on the beach so I get tan but the goal is never the tan.

as a white person with extremely fair skin one when I was a teenager and I was tanning it was told to me and my family. if you tanned you wouldn't burn as easily in the summer. I also live in Washington state so I was told by a doctor to tan because we didn't have a lot of sun and vitamin D levels again. this was like 15 years ago and I was also extremely made fun of for how pale I was. they would make like ghost jokes about me. I never wanted to be like super tan. I just wanted some pigment and a lot of the older people were doing it so it was like a fad. now as an older adult I embrace my natural colors and I'm learning how to dress for my skin tone and for my body type and when I was a teenager a lot of what was out there was Jersey shore and a lot of these other things. so they were tan or had spray tan on and then they would dress certain way. so I thought that that's what what I should dress like. and as an adult I realize I have a different body. I have a different skin tone so I need to dress the way I'm supposed to if that makes sense at all. this is my experience not everybody's experience
