@thelonegunmenrideagain: Elizabeth Short was 22 years old when her body was discovered in Leimert Park, Los Angeles on January 15, 1947. She had been murdered elsewhere and transported to the field. Her body was fully drained of blood, bisected at the waist with surgical precision, and posed deliberately facing the street. She had been washed clean before being left there. The Los Angeles Police Department investigated over 150 suspects. Dozens of people confessed. None were credible. The case remains officially open. The killer was never identified. INTERESTING FACT Ten days after the body was found, the Los Angeles Examiner received a package in the mail. Inside were Elizabeth Short's birth certificate, her address book, and several photographs. All had been soaked in petrol to destroy fingerprints.
