My issue is that I need help understanding how to act like I belong there. My mother never taught me how to have manners or be polite or etiquette. I certainly never went to cotillion. It was only a few years ago (I’m 35 btw) that I realized I was socially awkward. It would explain why people who treat me differently. But I recently learned how to be more likeable and I think that is what got me the job where I’m working.
