@brynn_ann: How to Wake Up Your Sourdough Starter From the Fridge ✨IMPORTANT: Never feed your starter before it has peaked and eaten all the food. Feeding before peak ➡️ weakens your starter. This applies to ALL established starters, no matter how you store it. The refrigerator basically acts like a “pause button” for your starter. If it’s only been in the fridge for a week or two, it probably hasn’t finished eating yet. Here’s what to do: STEP 1: Break the airtight seal and place your lid loosely on top. STEP 2: Set it on the counter at room temp. and let it eat/peak. *It doesn’t matter how long this takes, just wait until it peaks. STEP 3: Feed your starter like you normally would. 📌 IMPORTANT NOTES: • If your starter has only been in the fridge 1-2 weeks, you might be able to bake with it right away. • If it’s been in the fridge longer than that, you may need a few peak-to-peak feedings to get it strong and balanced again. I always like to give my starter at least a couple of peak-to-peak feedings before I use it for baking (no matter how long it’s been in the fridge). I really hope this helps but let me know if you have any questions 💛 #sourdough #sourdoughstarter #sourdoughbaking #sourdoughforbeginners #sourdoughtips
I just get more and more confused as I go down this sourdough rabbit hole….

You use a very small jar to strengthen your sourdough starter. What do you do when you need to bake several loaves in each calls for 100 to 150 g of starter?

I’ve never done this. 👀 I just feed right from fridge and then let her sit out until peak. So I’m doing it wrong?

If you wanted to bake a loaf Saturday morning, when would you take your starter out of the fridge? I’d like to bake weekly on Saturdays and don’t want to keep my starter on my counter and feed daily. My house is cold.

Hi sourdough question here! When I bake my sourdough bread, I put whatever is left of my starter and put it in the fridge. Once I’m ready to bake again, i take it out of the fridge, feed it, wait for it to peak, and then bake and repeat. Am I storing it wrong?

What if my starter from the fridge doesn’t rise when I set it on my counter at room temperature?

Such a huge help. I’ve had mine in the fridge and have left her there because I had no idea how to bring her back out.

I don’t bake too often. So how do I take a starter that’s been sitting in the fridge for about 2 months and wake it back up? It’s spring and I want to start baking more. Any suggestions? And what to do with the gray matter that’s on top?

How do you know if the refrigerated starter is done eating or has eaten all that you fed before refrigerating?

I’m storing my starter in the fridge. Should I be doing this every week before I feed it for its weekly feed? I know how to do this before baking but do you also do that with the weekly?
