I have a highly analytical job where I make decisions worth tens of millions of dollars everyday. I’m very well compensated for it. My mental load at home kicks my ass far more than my mentally taxing job does.

Even despite all of this I still think the mental load IS worst than doing a full time job 😆 I’m currently on mat leave and am not bringing in income and this mental load of having a toddler is significantly harder than when I just went to work. But yes we all are doing both. I’ll be returning to work and will I’m sure keep a large amount of the mental load.

I find wor easier than household jobs because my work is interesting to me and household work is boring AF and I have adhd. I find watching my 2 year old overstimulating after a few hours. I love him it’s also rewarding but it’s HARD. But I can do 10 hours straight of work easily no overstimulation.

Accurate. I carry all of the mental load. My husband works away for 7 days and home for 7 days. I carry the full mental load and I work 2 consultancy jobs and run our small commercial pasture raised egg farm. The mental load is way harder than all 3 jobs combined

My 9-5 is the LEAAAAST stressing part of my day, and I get paid pretty well too. It’s the sudden thought that my son doesn’t have his P.E clothes clean and packed for school that wakes me up at night, not the Q2 sales forecast

I worked 70 hours a week when my ex worked 30 for a similar hourly rate (I made slightly more per hour) and I STILL had to tell my ex what had to be done while I was gone. And it was a toss up on whether it would actually get done or not.

My kids are grown and I work from home now, but when they were little I worked 2nd shift. I always said it was the easy part of my day. I got to sit down, focus on a task, and have an uninterrupted meal break 🙌

I have done both and believe me, the mental load of a home is crushing. It’s with you 24/7. Work outside the home (and my job is stressful) was a break and a relief. But, honestly, my marriage was the hardest part.

The absolute best thing for my marriage was my husband going part time when I went back to work after mat leave (also part time). We both had a day with the kids, and we both know it's much harder than our paid jobs.
