@lee_theocdtherapist: If you love someone with OCD, this might be hard to hear… but it might change everything. Reassuring them Answering the same question over and over Helping them “feel better” in the moment It feels like love… but it’s actually feeding the OCD. OCD doesn’t get stronger because of the thoughts It gets stronger because of the responses The most loving thing you can do is stop helping OCD win Support them Be there for them But stop participating in the cycle That’s how real recovery starts I offer everyone a free 30-minute consultation. During this consultation, I’ll learn about your story, teach you exactly how OCD works, and walk you through how to break this cycle using ERP, the most effective treatment for OCD. If it’s a fit, amazing. If not, you’ll still leave with real clarity and guidance. DM me “consult” if you’re ready to break this cycle, or you can get started directly at SolomonPsychiatrics.clinic Coursge is doing it afraid🤝 . . . . . #ocdproblems #ocd #intrusivethoughts #ocdtherapy #ocdrecovery

Can you talk about more on how to help our loved ones who have this? I had no idea reassuring my sister was unhelpful 😔

My husband just gets me. He breaks it down for me “so yeah, that could happen but there is a 99% chance it’s not going to happen but if it does, we will figure it out together.” He really does help keep my grounded

I hate the “oh my god this again?” With the 10 million stoic reasons why I’m being illogical. I KNOW. I don’t need to be told how ridiculous I am. I need support.

everyone saying the reassurance is what helps them feel better i’m so sorry it takes years and lots of not being able to eat or do anything but the more you ask for reassurance the more you’ll need it. Sit with the uncomfort of thinking and don’t say it out loud don’t ask just sit and it gives it less power to just realize it doesn’t matter we can do this

Just hearing you say this is terrifying to me - like I hear you but I NEED that relief. Like what about the fall out?? What am I supposed to do when I cannot get the relief?!

I learned to disassociate on demand to find relief. No amount of reassurance helped me.

Thx. I find this helpful. I have developed health OCD after experiencing a traumatic event, I think I have had OCD in other ways my whole life but just didn’t recognize it. But it has been extremely difficult in my relationship. I am going to share this with my husband!

Wow. My therapist told my husband to answer me once, but to say “I already answered that and I’m not telling you again, I love you”

Lau :
I have always struggled so bad with ocd, since my very childhood. I had the urge to tell all my thoughts, usually bad that had me suffering for weeks, to my figure of security, either way I just felt very guilty. My boyfriend solved it when he told me “I don’t need to know these things, you are not thinking them in reality, and it’s not your fault, so I don’t care what it tells you”. That single sentence changed my whole process with OCD. We were 16 years old back then. Now we are 20, happily together, and the OCD is not a problem for us anymore.
