I surrendered a dog for aggression. I had her birthday, breeds (mastiff pitt mix) circumstances surrounding the aggression which included small dogs and an explanation that she was resource guarding my infant and that the bite I got from stopping her was severe enough leave an exposed nerve. they wrote her down a year younger than she was, wrote that she loves children, shouldn't be homed to anyone with small dogs , that she was a black mouth curr. yes. rescues lie.

I left working in a shelter bc they told me not to tell potential adopters about the dogs issues or really downplay their issues. Yes, most shelters are lying to you.

I adopted a dog from a rescue that was young puppy listed as a “Dalmatian mix”… not that I needed a dog dna test, but it showed 80% Pitt and 20% staffy… 0% Dalmatian

My rescue was listed as a black lab mix. She’s a Belgian Malinois, German shepherd, two types of pitbull and a whopping 5% lab 😂

when i adopted my poodle from a rescue they told me she was 3yrs old and healthy. turns out she was 12yrs old, diabetic, and had renal failure 😭 i found out when i took her for a routine vet visit straight after the rescue pick up. it was so painful losing her at 16yrs old but we tried our best to give her the best last years of her life

other people talking about what the rescues told them and I'm here wondering who decided to cross a scent hound with a herding dog, most specifically with a cattle dog bc oh my god that sounds like a terrible idea 😂

i adopted my dog from a humane society, they told me he was good with other animals and not great with meeting new people...yet he was the only one that didnt bark, they let us in a meeting room with him, and he immediately gave me all the love, and fun fact, he is not good with other animals and absolutely loves everyone we introduce him to 😐

i got a doggy dna test for free from bark box & we used it on our lil village rescue. seeing her and then knowing her breeds is so bizarre. she’s 22% Labrador Retriever, 16% Cocker Spaniel, 15% Alaskan Husky, 15% Alaskan Malamute, 12% Brittany, 12% Golden Retriever, and 8% Siberian Husky. she’s so small tho lol. she really is special!
