I personally have so much anxiety about making small talk that I’ll put off a haircut/color for a year. I hate small talk so much. Put the point at hand tipping is crazy. Tip the assistance yeah, sure but I wish I didn’t have to. I’ll give my stylist money and if she wants to give a few bucks to the assistant then go ahead.

Right. I guess it’s common in the south at least to have someone like a senior citizen to wash hair at the salon for just tips? Coming from California, I did not know to tip the wash lady until my hairdresser told me. In California the hairdresser used to split tips with the assistants. Or that’s how it used to be.

I have clients who will have their phone or a book and they’ll say to me “do you mind if I just read/answer my emails while I get my service done?” And I get the hint lol

Best way to handle this is to keep your answers really short and not ask them any questions. They will pick up what you’re putting down and stop chatting. 🙂

😭😭 the- I wanna use all these services that involve human interaction and are in no way obligatory but complain if the human acts differently than you want and also refuse to speak up and speak to them like the human they are (including saying you don’t want to talk- which is ok and normal) instead of someone serving u and your needs…… wild. I’m sure private cars and more expensive services wouldn’t talk to you like this. Pick ur Poison
