There’s a strange kind of awakening that happens when you stop waiting for life to be uncomplicated before you let yourself call it beautiful. Because life is beautiful. And sometimes it is fucking brutal. Sometimes it breaks your heart. Sometimes it changes everything. Sometimes it sends you in a direction you never saw coming and introduces you to people who alter the course of your life simply because they existed in it. And somehow, woven through all of that, there is collateral beauty. The person who changes your trajectory. The ending that gives you back to yourself. The detour that becomes the whole fucking road. The heartbreak that makes you fall in love with yourself. The moment you realize that what hurt you also transformed you and set you free… Everything is changing, now. In the most beautiful ways I was dealt a shitty hand early in life and I played the hell out of the hand that I was given… If anything, this season is about giving less of myself away just to keep other people comfortable. About not abandoning pieces of me to make something work. About letting myself take up the space I was always meant to take up. And about understanding that not everything beautiful is meant to last forever. Some people come into your life and stay. Some people come into your life and crack something open. Some people change the direction of you, even if they were only ever meant to walk beside you for part of the road. And I don’t think that makes it any less meaningful. Life can be tragic and breathtaking in the same breath. There can be grief and gratitude sitting at the same table. There can be endings that hurt like hell and still become the beginning of something extraordinary. So lately, I’m paying attention to the collateral beauty. The sunsets. The lessons. The love. The people who changed me. The parts of myself I refused to lose. The parts of myself I finally stopped giving away. And the quiet realization that sometimes a changed trajectory is exactly how you find the life you were meant to be living. 🌄🖤
