Coming from someone who lived there, kasuga taisha shrine is like a 10 min walk from the part entrance, you don’t need a bus necessarily (if u wanna save some money)

We hike the wakakusayama hills (if you’re not very fit it will get really tiring) but it was worth it. The view is spectacular and the deers are much gentler, some are very shy. We also got nicer photos because if you take videos or pictures feeding the deer at the entrance, you know you’ll get crowded background because there are so many people there
